Respond, Inc.
Respond’s
Crisis
Hotline/Direct Service Office: 617-623-5900
In the early 1970’s a group of community women in
Somerville began a grassroots effort to assist women who were being
abused in their homes. These founding mothers responded to the needs of
battered women by opening up their own homes to create refuge. Then,
collaborating with local social service providers, who were also
concerned about the lack of services available to battered woman, they
formed RESPOND, which was incorporated in 1975. Throughout its history,
RESPOND’s mission has remained consistent: to help individuals at risk
escape violent situations, to empower victims of domestic violence to
advocate for themselves and their children, and to carry out
preventative and educational activities that lessen the incidence of
violence.
Regal Fabric Care was proud to organize a volunteer effort involving
fellow members of the New England Institute of Restoration and Cleaning,
to aid Respond, Inc. with their carpet and upholstery cleaning needs.
With the cooperation of two other carpet cleaning companies, Regal
donated over $3000.00 worth of cleaning services to help Respond
continue their efforts to aid battered women.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross
1-800-GIVE-LIFE
Facts about The
American Red Cross:
Blood cannot be
manufactured. Its only source is a healthy volunteer donor. The American Red Cross
provides about half the nation’s blood supply - roughly six million
pints per year. Nationally, less than
5% of the population gives blood, supporting the other 95%. 1400 pints of blood
must be collected every working day in Maine, Massachusetts, New
Hampshire, and Vermont to meet patient needs. In general, fewer people donate during summer months and
holidays, but blood
usage often
increases. Summer and holiday donors are especially valuable.
Regal Fabric Care has always encouraged our family of employees to
donate blood as often as possible, providing paid leave to
accommodate donation schedules.

Big
Brother of Greater Boston 617-542-9090
“As you read this, more
than 500 boys in the Greater Boston area are waiting to be matched with
a caring, adult friend -- perhaps someone just like you! And it’s very
likely that a waiting Little Brother in your neighborhood, or nearby,
has interests and hobbies similar to yours.
While
the rewards of being a Big Brother last a lifetime, becoming a Big
Brother only takes 6-8 weeks, depending on how quickly you complete the
4 - step Big Brother application process. Consisting of an application,
a reference review, an information session and interviews, this process
allows you to make an informed, thoughtful decision about becoming a Big
Brother and allows us to know you so that we can select the best Little
Brother for you.”
